Who We Are

We are a group of Christians who value fellowship together, times of praise and worship and digging deeper in the Bible to learn more about the great God who has gone to extraordinary lengths to show how much He loves us.

The Church of God in Vancouver is part of a world-wide fellowship of around 150 churches that reaches from Canada and the USA into countries including the UK, India, Myanmar, Nigeria, Malawi, Ghana, Jamaica, the Philippines and Australia. Each holds the same evangelical beliefs and shares common practices based on the pattern of the Biblical New Testament churches of God. Find out more about the Churches of God, including a summary of what we believe, here.

We are a culturally diverse group and we welcome everyone. It doesn’t where you’re coming from or where you find yourself right now; we want to support each other in getting where God wants us to be.

Our History

South Cambie Gospel Hall on 60th Ave is where the Church of God in Vancouver met from 1958 until 2013, serving as part of the community in South Cambie for over 55 years.

The local church was “planted’ or came into existence on April 2nd, 1939 after two missionaries, George Prasher Jr. and George Horne, began a work in Vancouver in December 1938. Meetings were held in private homes at first.

Our church group acquired a hall at 563 West 19th Avenue and met there for many years until we moved to 506 West 60th Avenue

Now we have moved into our new hall on the corner of Cambie and 61st avenue, which we’ve called the Cambie Christian Centre.

Our New Home

We’re really excited about what’s happening in the Cambie Corridor and how the South Cambie area is developing. We are committed to being a community church – building up and supporting the neighbourhood; providing a space for people to meet, events for people to get involved in together and services that enrich the community life of the area.

In our new building, we are on the ground floor at the corner of 61st and Cambie, housed in a brand-new, beautifully designed space that forms a lovely setting in which to meet.

However, we believe a church is not bricks and mortar, but the people who meet there and the change we really want to see is lives being lit up by the richness of God’s love. We want to introduce people to Jesus and, if you already have a relationship with Him, we want to get together with you and talk about how we can learn together to be more like Him in our lives. We want to see lives changed, built up and developed.

Our new setting will allow us to do more and be more for you, our community, and for our God.

We invite you to join us and be a part of that
